Limor Shemesh is a researcher in Haifa university, started her Ph.D at the department of counseling and human development, faculty of education under the supervision of Prof. Aviva Berkovich-Ohana, and collaboration with Prof. Ofra Mayseless and Prof. Oded Maimon from Tel- Aviv university. The research topic: Self-transcendence in channelers: an electrophysiology-phenomenology study. a pioneering inter-disciplinary research project in which neuroscience and phenomenology perspectives are adopted to study the profound spiritual experience of self-transcendence, as well as its downstream influences on death denial and anxiety. Limor completed her M.Sc. in neuroscience at Sagol department of neurobiology, Haifa University and received the Sagol department excellence scholarship. Her thesis project examined the connection between autobiographical memory and mindfulness meditation, and specifically differences in hippocampus-cortical functional connectivity patterns between expert meditators and non-meditators, and different characteristics of autobiographical memory that may be unique to expert meditators.
